A casual and informal food tour of italy with all arrangements made for your comfort and enjoyment including transport, all food and wine and tour entries. I am so happy to welcome you to my food world. As your guide and fellow adventurer we will be cooking and eating our way around this fabulous region with side orders of local sights and attractions. Price: $US4000 per person for 10 days. (After a minimum of 7 days, a daily charge can be made on application.)

28th June- DAY 1

Arrive Brindisi airport from Rome at approx. 4.15. I will pick you up from the airport and whisk you off to the Palazzo Bacile in Spongano where we will stay with Alessandro and Sarah. See www.palazzobacile.it

29th June- DAY 2

Poggiardo Market day in Spongano so here we will tour, shop for supplies in the local market and cook up a lazy storm in our own kitchen.

30th June- DAY 3

We will take make our leisurely way into Lecce, the Florence of the south, known for it’s Baroque churches, shops and general wonderfulness.

1st July- DAY 4

Today its an early trip to the coastal fishing market at Otranto on the Adriatic coast. Hopefully we will find the salt-crusted prawns for lunch and then we bring back our “catch” and cook it whatever way we decide. Local, seasonal and fresh as only Italy can deliver.

2nd July- DAY 5

Its relaxing around the pool today as we are on holidays. We will see what we can cook up.

3rd July- DAY 6

Farewell Dinner to prepare so all hands on deck but sti time to pack and prepare for departure for the next leg of the journey.

4th July- DAY 7

Off to Ceglie Messapica and the land of the TRULLI and a Wine Tasting Tour on the way.

5th July- DAY 8

We will spend the morning at Masseria Brancati where we find the oldest known olive press from Roman times for a tour and tasting. Then to Ostuni, one of the “white villages”, for a light lunch. If you are unable to continue on with the tour, you can be dropped at Bari airport for the 3.30 flight to Rome* These transfers are not included in the price.

 

6th July- DAY 9

Trip to the heritage listed Trulli town of Alberobello. Lunch at the delightful “La Cantina” or maybe a beach lunch at La Zattera. Let’s see on the day.

7th July- DAY 10

Our final day of the tour so a simple day to choose a plan and hop on a plane.

Wine Tour around the local area with Paola, local Italian/American ex-pat and conviviale. Tasting the indigenous grapes that make the Pugliesi wines that we rarely have the pleasure of drinking in Australia. Lovely antipasti lunch. Includes transport and lunch leaves early morning. Time to collect luggage and drive to Bari Airport, 50 minutes away for the Rome flight at 3.30 or 7.10.

Travel to Masseria Brancati where we find the oldest known olive press from Roman times. Simply a marvel with a tour and tasting. Drive to Ostuni for a quick lunch and drive straight through to get to the airport for 3.30 flight to Rome.

Trip to the Heritage Trulli town of Alberobello. Early Lunch at “La Cantina” to head straight for the airport for 3.30 flight to Rome. OR if we choose a more laid-back outing it’s definitely La zattera by the sea for lazy swimming and seafood lunch then off to airport. Arrivederci Puglia.
